My Thoughts:

Breaking Through the Wall by Ashley Piscitelli begins where it left off in Playing With Fire! I loved the way Ashley started Breaking Through the Wall. From the beginning we get to hear Jason's POV. I also loved that Maddie and Carter were still present in Breaking Through the Wall, and that we get to read from their POV as well. But Breaking Through the Wall is Jason and Nicki's story.

No girl had ever held my attention for this long, much less made me feel the way I do when I’m around her.

Jason is your typical bad boy, player, man-whore. Just the guy that you're parents would disapprove of dating. Did I like Jason's character? Yes, I loved his character as much as I loved Carter's character in Playing With Fire. I blame Jason's father for his way of thinking when it comes to relationships, and his mother when it comes to women. His mother abandoned them when he was little, and his father made him believe that relationships didn't work and that he would only suffer if he ever committed to be in a relationship. Yeah, how messed up is that! What did I love about Jason's character? I loved that he was protective of Nicki, his courage to stand-up for his love for Nicki, and his possessiveness of Nicki. I don't like it when guys are way over protective, but his possessiveness does safe Nicki in Breaking Through the Wall- won't say what it is, because you will just have to read the book ;).

I am making it my mission to make him mine. If I have to get a little dirty to do it, then so be it.

I just loved Nicki's character right from the beginning of the Guarded Hearts series! Nicki comes from a family with money, but she doesn't have the perfect life. Her father and stepmother are always traveling, and don't pay attention to her existence. She always helped and supported Maddy right from the start, and she helped Maddy open up to let others in her life. What do I love about Nicki's character? I loved her stubbornness, her independence, and that she never gave up on Jason. Other girls would have just forgotten about a guy who would just be going to them for sex, but she knew deep down that he cared for her and that he just needed a little push to accept this. Now, this girl can be stubborn. When she wants something she will do anything to get it- in her case she wants Jason- and she doesn't mind playing a little dirty to get deep under his skin.

If I stay, though, then I won’t be able to stay away from her. She is like a magnet for me and that is dangerous.

Jason and Nicki first get together or more like have a one-night-stand in Playing With Fire. Their relationship ever since that night has only been that they might pump into each other and just have sex. Jason is always the one to leave, because he never wanted to be in a relationship. When these two are in a room together they can't keep their hands off each other. They are literally jumping each other and tearing their cloths off. Yeah, there is a lot of hot sex! I thought Nicki had a clever idea to make Jason realize what it would be like if he didn't start to get serious with her. I just loved these two together :D!

Jason took every last part of me with him when he left.

Of course Ashley Piscetelli knows how to through a few curve balls and twists in her story. Just when everything is going just right in Jason and Nicki's relationship, something big happens that you will not see it coming. My jaw dropped to the ground with this twist in the story. I seriously didn't see this coming.

I am going to stray a little bit away from Jason and Nicki's relationship, because Maddy and Carter are having their own issues. If you read Playing With Fire, then you remember Chris, Maddy's psycho ex-boyfriend. I hoped that he had died in the car crash, but he just walked off perfectly fine! How the hell does that happen? Now only does he walk off better than Maddy from the accident, but he might also get away with kidnapping and hurting Maddy! What the hell? We are going to be getting more psycho Chris in the third installment of the Guarded Hearts series, because at the end of Breaking Through the Wall, Ashley puts a little of his POV. This gave me the chills. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Her showing me that she wasn’t going anywhere, was definitely something I needed.

Breaking Through the Wall by Ashley Pistecilli exceeded my expectations! I loved Playing With Fire, but I loved Jason and Nicki's story much more in Breaking Through the Wall. There is love, passion, friendship, loss, danger, and the twists Ashley throws in the story just made it perfect! This was a fast paced read, and I can see myself re-reading it later on in the year. That is how much I loved Jason and Nicki's story! Again, Ashley why did you have to end it like that with Chris's POV! I am dying to know what will happen next.

 Final Verdict: 5 Stars

Excerpt:

She was washing her hair, so her eyes were closed and all I could do was stare at her. When she opened them, though, she let out a scream. ”What the fuck are you doing in here?!”
I couldn’t even form any words. I just walked up closer to her, and noticed that she was breathing hard. I wrapped my hand around her neck and crushed my mouth to hers. I ran my tongue along her bottom lip, begging her to open her mouth for me, then I slid my other hand down to grab her ass. She let out a moan and it gave me the space I needed.
I plunged my tongue into her, kissing her like I needed her to live. She put her hands onto my chest and circled her fingers around my nipples. Next thing I knew, she grabbed both of them and twisted, hard. “What the fuck, Nic?!”
“Do you really think that you can come in here and just expect to have your way with me after that shit in there?” This girl was absolutely fucking nuts, and I loved it. I walked closer to her again and backed her against the tile wall. “You need to just –“
I clamped my hand over her mouth so I could get a word in. “Will you just let me talk for a fucking minute?” I was so close to her I could feel her heart racing. She nodded her head yes and I removed my hand.
I put both of my hands on the sides of her face and rested my forehead against hers. She placed both of her hands on my hips and we just stared at each other, with the shower pouring over both of us.
“I get why you’re pissed, trust me I do. You need to know, though, that the girl I was with didn’t matter. I didn’t even remember her name by the end of the date and nothing happened between us. I went out with her to get you out of my head. You’re always there, Nic. No matter what or who I do, you are always there. I know I’m not good for you, but, truthfully, I really don’t know how much longer I can stay away. You make me so fucking crazy, but the truth is, that I can’t get enough of it. I –“
This time it was her who attacked my mouth.

About the Author:

My name is Ashley Piscitelli. I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. On top of starting a writing career, I am a full-time student and a full-time mom. I love spending time with my kids, although I have to hide away with the computer from them when I am writing! I love being active and being outdoors.
I have always been passionate about writing. I wrote this book in about three months. I love reading romance books! I feel like being able to lose yourself in a book is one of the more exciting aspects. The books I love to read and write will be ones that make you feel for the characters. You should have an opinion on every character in a book whether you love them, hate them, or think they are up to something.
I have always thought that the most important critic is your reader, so I would love to hear from you. If you read the book and loved it or hated it, tell me. As long as it is in a constructive way, I will always answer and interact with you. I want my fans to be open & talk to me what they want for the characters in the story, and what they would  like to see happen.
I hope you all enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
